At Covington-Harper Elementary School, we believe that strong partnerships between families, staff, and the community are essential to student success. Our Principal Advisory Council serves as a collaborative forum where stakeholders can provide input, share perspectives, and help shape decisions that support our school community.
Purpose
The Principal Advisory Council provides opportunities for members of the school community to participate in the decision-making process at the local school level. The council serves as an advisory body to the principal and school leadership team, ensuring that family and community voices are heard and considered when making decisions that impact students and the school.
Objectives
The Principal Advisory Council works to:
Foster meaningful family and community engagement.
Provide feedback and recommendations to the principal and school leadership team.
Strengthen communication between the school and its stakeholders.
Support school improvement efforts and student achievement.
Promote collaboration and shared responsibility for the success of all students.
Ensure diverse perspectives are considered in school planning and decision-making.
How the Council Supports Our School
The council meets throughout the school year to discuss school initiatives, review progress toward goals, gather stakeholder feedback, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Through ongoing reflection and evaluation, the council helps ensure that Covington-Harper remains responsive to the needs of students, families, staff, and the community.
Our Commitment
The Principal Advisory Council aligns with Prince William County Schools' commitment to engaging families as authentic partners in education. By working together, we strengthen our school community and create the conditions for every Cheetah to thrive.
Upcoming Meeting Schedule
The Principal Advisory Council will meet throughout the school year to discuss school initiatives, gather stakeholder input, review progress toward school goals, and strengthen partnerships between home and school. Meeting dates and times for the 2026-2027 school year will be published soon on our website and shared through school newsletters, School Status communications, and other school updates.
